Not Your Traditional Keynote
Interactive leadership experiences that go deeper than a single hour on stage.
I show up as a coach and facilitator first, not simply a speaker.
My goal is to partner with your team to create a highly interactive leadership experience across your event that helps your leaders connect, engage, reflect, and leave with practical action they can immediately apply back in their organizations.
For relationship-driven groups, that matters.
The best leadership growth doesn't happen by sitting quietly in rows listening to someone talk for hours and hours. It happens through conversation, challenge, reflection, shared experiences, and real connection.
That's the environment I help create.
Designed for Your Audience
Every leadership audience comes with its own dynamics. Family dynamics. Legacy considerations. Generational transitions. Ownership pressures. Culture questions. The challenge of honoring what built the business while still helping move it forward.
In many of the organizations I work with, leadership isn't just operational. It's personal.
That tension is real. And honestly, it creates some of the most important leadership conversations a group can have.
My sessions are designed to create space for those conversations in a way that is practical, engaging, and approachable without becoming overly heavy or theoretical.
Whether your audience is made up of emerging leaders, senior executives, founders, or a mix, the experience is shaped around what they're actually navigating, not a generic leadership curriculum.
What’s Included in The Experience
Rather than a single presentation, I typically recommend building a multi-touchpoint facilitated experience throughout the event.
Every engagement is custom-built, but a typical Interactive Leadership Experience can include:
Formats
The structure is built to keep people engaged, reflective, and connected throughout the event, not just during a session.
Interactive leadership sessions
Group exercises and activities
Facilitated discussion
Peer learning conversations
Small group breakouts
Reflection prompts
Speed and group coaching
Informal leadership touchpoints throughout the event
Practical takeaways and action planning
One-on-one conversations with attendees
Pre-event content and post-event resources
Topics
The content typically focuses on the idea that strong leaders often drift into "the Upside Down" under pressure without realizing it.
Leadership under pressure
Building trust and accountability
Communication across teams and generations
Navigating growth and succession
Leading inside family-like business dynamics
Avoiding burnout and disengagement
Developing culture in growing organizations
Emotional intelligence and self-awareness
Moving from control to clarity
Leading people, not just managing operations
Collaboration and partnership leadership

The Upside Down Leader: Lead Out Of The Shadow
In this powerful presentation based on his book The Upside Down Leader, Billy challenges leaders to confront the hidden forces that shape their leadership.
Every leader has a shadow: the ego, fear, and habits that can quietly distort how we lead. Through storytelling, reflection, and practical insight, Billy helps leaders recognize when they've slipped into the "Upside Down," where control replaces clarity, and blame replaces accountability.
Attendees will learn how to identify their leadership patterns, take ownership of their impact, and step back into Daylight to lead with clarity, empathy, and purpose so teams grow, trust strengthens, and organizations perform at their best.
Team of Two: Collaboration That Multiplies Results
In this interactive session, Billy and Ashley Alaniz-Moyer co-present an exploration of how strong partnerships create multiplication in business and life.
Through their Team of Two framework, they show how understanding behavior styles, communication patterns, and differences can strengthen collaboration rather than create conflict. Drawing on their experience working together, Billy and Ashley share practical examples of how partnerships succeed or fail based on communication, trust, and shared purpose.
Attendees will learn the 7 Collaboration Killers and practical tools for resolving conflict, improving communication, and building trust and alignment within teams. Can be delivered solo by Billy on request.
Daylight Leadership: Stepping Into Your Authentic Leadership
What would your organization look like if every person chose to lead? Billy believes leadership is the solution to nearly every challenge teams face, from culture and communication to performance and accountability.
In this presentation, Billy introduces the concept of Daylight Leadership, helping participants recognize the habits and behaviors that pull leaders into the "shadow" and showing how to step back into leadership rooted in clarity, empathy, and purpose.
Through practical tools and real-world insights, participants will learn how to take ownership, strengthen trust, and lead themselves and others with intention.
I have spent my career working with leaders and organizations across:
Franchise systems
Multi-location businesses
Trades and construction-related industries
Home services organizations
Growth-oriented entrepreneurial companies
Family-owned and founder-led businesses
Nonprofit and mission-driven organizations
Professional services firms
I understand the realities of balancing operational demands, people leadership, growth, culture, and succession planning across these industries, especially in family-owned and founder-led organizations where leadership, identity, relationships, and business performance are often deeply interconnected.
My approach is practical, conversational, and highly engaging. Not theoretical. Not scripted.
I work hard to meet people where they are and create experiences they actually carry with them after the event ends.
Industries I Know Well
What Past Audiences Have Said

How We Work Together
I work with event teams to design engagements that fit the specific shape of your event.
I can adapt my involvement to best fit your goals, schedule, and audience needs, including:
Full-day or multi-day facilitation
Opening or closing experiences
Breakout facilitation
Informal attendee engagement
Leadership coaching conversations
Adjusting timing and format as needed in real time
My priority isn't delivering my presentation. My priority is helping your team create an experience that exceeds expectations and sets the tone for whatever comes next.
About Billy
Billy Moyer helps leaders step out of the Upside Down and into the Daylight. He's an executive coach, keynote speaker, facilitator, and author who has coached and trained thousands of leaders worldwide.
Billy is the founder of SOS Leadership and Daylight Leadership, and the author of several leadership books, including his newest, The Upside Down Leader. His work focuses on the moments leaders don't usually talk about publicly: the avoided decision, the team that's quietly disengaged, the pressure they're carrying alone. Most of the time, what looks like an operational problem is a leadership problem underneath.
Billy hosts The Upside Down Leader Podcast and teaches Leadership Theory as an adjunct professor at Concordia University Texas. His most important roles are husband to Ashley and dad to Lincoln and Lane.
